"I think people should be allowed to do anything they want. We haven’t tried that for a while. Maybe this time it’ll work."- George Carlin

Two roads diverged in a blackened wood
Or at least it used to be two
Why the forest ‘tween burned was not understood
And why the roads had been stripped of all good
Was not something I knew

It was a dead-end, no way back
Ashes of souls littered the ground
I felt my spirit staining black
And jumped as if a shadow could attack
As I cowardly looked around

There was no line drawn between
The roads had blurred together
I silently wished that the trees were still green
As I stared upon the ugly scene
Bound by an unseen tether

And although I felt as a pawn
Turning back from the trip
I had not the heart to continue on
And now the gate is gone and gone
As I struggle beneath the whip

"The Road Not Taken" is a beautiful poem, but I've heard it so many times it had lost meaning to me. This poem is my attempt to understand Frost's work better.
