Tonight I'll Hold the Gentle Rose
Gently, I hold the flowered rose
It’s beauty hidden by the blackened night
Which makes me question the path that I chose
In hastening here in my frantic plight
Blinded by midnight, my journey complete
At night with the moon to guide my eyes
I found the spot where the dirt-paths meet
Where the fragile rose lay in disguise
I fingered the petals as the wind whipped my back
The end of my journey bearing heavily down
As I lacked nothing more I unzipped my large pack
And sat staring at the starlight, far away from my town
I want for nothing, yet I need something still
Alone on the top of this dirt-packed hill
