Hell and Back
A ship set sail today,
And took my love away.
Will I never see him?
My light is growing dim.
I'm going through the day,
I know I cannot stay.
The ladies whisper, unmoved;
The gentlemen disapprove.
They say he left me behind.
The other words are not kind.
I ignore it, all the same:
For the words do seem quite tame.
He will come back for me.
I just have to believe.
A ship has come to port.
Now there is no retort.
My love, my prince, hello,
Coming home from Below.
