You Are
Your tread is gentle, your tread is slow
You keep your head down as you go
The choir is conducted without song
You are silent as you walk along
You don’t whisper, you don’t speak
You follow orders, you are meek
You douse the fire, put out the flame
All along, you’ve played their game
But the time is here, the place is now
On your unbridled strength, you must vow
To speak your mind, always be loud
Sing your song, of your beauty be proud
The world does crumble, the world does shake
Under the weight of their words and of their hate
But use your voice to heal and repair
Their lies fall flat, as weightless as air
You are strong, you are alive
You see the problem, into it you must dive
Hold your head high, with a smile, too
You can do this because you are you
