summer rain
have you ever stopped to hear the rain?
it plunks
it thunks
it plinks
it thinks
it dreams and runs and trickles down
it smooths and softens, cleans and drowns
it tells you all you need to know
but falls so fast, and sounds so slow
just sound, that's all rain really is.
have you ever stopped to feel the rain?
so smooth
so slick
so sing-song soft
so slippery special like spinning glass tops
it feels like sighing, like letting go
a deep root feeling, whispered low
a feeling, that's all rain really is.
have you ever stopped to taste the rain?
clear and
cold
crisp and
clean
icy fresh and sweet as spring
but really only just nothing...
nothing. that's everything rain is.
