A Story In Which I Don't Die
Someone please, tell me a tale
Of a world free of sickness and pain
For my heart is heavy and my body is frail
The doctors keep frowning, we know they’ll fail
But I’m holding on to keep you sane
Someone please, tell me a tale
Of a time when belligerent mothers didn’t wail
And when hope wasn’t dreamt up in vain
For my heart is heavy and my body is frail
A story of a boat with a big, white sail
And maybe a scribbling sailor with a long, white cane
Someone please, tell me a tale
Because I can’t bear what my future will entail
Because all faith has been discredited and slain
For my heart is heavy and my body is frail
Maybe an ocean with a big, white whale
And, overhead, a receding, white crane
Someone please tell me a tale
For my heart is heavy and my body is frail.
