Tonight
anxiously, I walked through the door
my anticipation great
it had been ages since our last face-to-face
but we'd had no opportunities to talk
biting my nails nervously
I let my feet carry me
I went forward
and I stopped and stared
feeling my jaw thud down
you turned around
and greeted me by name
I could hardly believe my eyes,
that this wasn't a figment of my imagination
that this was the real thing
I could not believe that I was finally seeing you
that I finally could talk with you for hours
forget the world around me for just one night
I wasn't even tired then, awake for every hour of that night
I could hang out with everyone
feel loved and appreciated
receiving hugs and surfing down the stairs
even though I was worried about the danger
it all ended in laughter
we watched movies
and sat on the couch together
different people every time
but I'll remember you too
sitting next to me when the clock reached midnight
pulling the strings and welcoming the new year together
I'll never forget this night,
I'll never forget you.
