You Will Never Know This
You will never know this,
Nor should you,
But you were in my dream last night.
My dreams don’t make much sense,
Not that dreams ever do,
But the message within it was crystal clear.
In this dream, we were not alone,
My family and neighbors were there as well,
But the others seemed to fade into the background.
Then it was you and I,
Alone on your front porch,
Lying down and staring into the beautiful night sky.
We did not do much while there,
Beneath the sky we spoke of ourselves and of the world,
We talked of our future.
In the last few moments of my dream,
The moments this had all built up to,
You soft lips touched mine.
You will never know this,
Though I wish you did,
But you were in my dream last night.
