Heart's Picture
A light shines faintly
Steps walk closer
A feeling of hurt first crosses the person’s path
Then a pang of rage
A pain filled with pity
The complex emotions circulate quickly
The footsteps move faster
The emotions appear, one by one
Anger, hurt, and torment
Each step becomes more difficult
Suddenly, the emotions cloud the light
The darkness becomes more evident
The figure trapped among the emotions
Now sinking, drowning in their fear.
In the prison a desperate cry pierces the darkness
Only to be answered with a cruel laugh
The taunting emotions swirl around their prey
Alone in the darkness
With nothing clear in front of the face
It comes closer
Compacts
Forces the captive into a deeper part of loneliness
As they struggle, the chains are tighter
Then the captive looks up
A look of hope unseen crossing the face
In the distance something approaches
It is a flicker of the tiniest flame of light
But yet brings hope
The feelings are so strong
So well known
Because these feelings collide in one person’s heart
The place so dark in this person’s heart
Of which I know so well
Because the person who lives with these cruel, hateful emotions is me
