I stared into the pair of those blue-green eyes,
And I saw memories and tears, ecstasy and surprise.
His eyes smiled and hugged me in.
And I couldn’t help but give a small, shy grin.
But now I weep because I see,
That those beautiful, blue green-eyes,
Will never look at me.

I was inspired to do this piece after reading a story about two friends. One of them has very bad eyesight and has to wear contacts to see clearly, yet, he believes that he must take off his contacts and see things as they really are. When he takes off his contacts to see his friend, an act of trust and intimacy, he reveals his true self to his friend.
