Dreams of Dawn
I once heard of a land where the sun shined round,
And the sky burned like the rolling fires of eons past.
I once felt warmth—of that dull rusty source,
And tasted those balls of fruit that gave zesty orange.
There was a time, when I controlled the fates of the dreary world,
But alas, that age was eternities ago.
Today I only dream.
I pluck the sun from its crimson bed,
Sucking at its sultry core.
The bitter juice drips down my chin.
But the gods cry today.
And deprive me
Of my plum.
