Water
the earth is trembling.
the grass is burning.
yet here i lie
unscathed by the shakes and fire
in a calm medow.
but then you look closer.
my skin you took for being pale
is drained of everything
every emotion
every feeling.
everything.
when you see me
my blank face
the face you have given me
you have water in you hands.
and a car at your feet
you can save me from the fire
you can save me from the shakes
but you rip your gaze away from my body
i lay there, sensing your momentary presence
i can feel the water near me
i can hear the rumble of the engine
i hear you
i want you
but you still leave.
never to return
and then, i slip
back into my apocalypse
