forever and always

she sits there at the window
looking at the stars
and whispers in the darkness
why are you so far?
she wishes they would come closer
so she could see her father
because the night before he died
this is what he told her
"if something were to happen to me
promise me you'll remember
that i will be among the stars
watching over you forever"
now sitting here at the window
thinking back to that day
at that moment she realized
he never went away
she knows that he loves her
and she knows someday
that they will together again
forever and always
