When a Child Dies
Finished too early
Smothered like the flame of an unwanted candle
A flower whose hopes were destroyed when winter returned
Known only in death
Fame gained through a terrible end
Whispers of "How caring, how living, how cared for, how loved" permeate the air
Tears fall for one we never knew
Time passes, years fade like stains
The mind forgets, but the consciousness retains
And we live for the ones who couldn't
