You won’t understand  until…
The grass is no longer green
The drinking water isn’t clean

You won’t understand until…
The air is filled with smoke
Everytime you breathe you choke

You won’t understand until…
The playgrounds are covered in garbage
And
The lakes are filled with oil

You won’t understand until…
All the wildlife is gone
And
Your children don’t know what a forest is

You won’t understand
That our Mother is dying
But you did nothing to stop it

You won’t understand until…
She has died

The author's comments:

This poem talks about our mother Earth and how many people take her for granted. My life goal is to become an environmental advocate, so I include a lot of environmental and economic issues in my writing. I wish to educate people on ways to do the activities they wish to do without harming themselves or the environment.
