In Testament to Jane Seymour
“Beauty is a radiance that originates from within and comes from inner security and strong character.” – Jane Seymour
The Art of Life
Life is a canvas and experience
The artist
All the vibrant colors resembling happier times
And yet, the course bristled brush, polishing you until you shine
By the end of the portrait
Your picture may not be perfect
But it will reflect upon who you are
And show your weaving journey thus far
Mine has been one of some twists and turns
With many lessons learned
There are some things that the painter of this image
Can only imply but will never be able to engage
Therefore the story is only partly told
Perhaps it’s better for the tale to be controlled
For if every emotion and choice was revealed
There would be nothing for the viewer to create a fantasy ideal
And so imagination
Would lose its confirmation
And due to that my chronicle would not exist
And purpose would lose what it consists
I had a dream of being a dancer
But apparently I was meant to do something better
Lights! Camera! Action!
Drew my attention
I have always believed
That I could do anything
Painting came as my saving grace
In a time of trouble it was my base
I did receive the opportunity to relive a moment from my past
I became a part of the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ cast
There are some things that you can inherit
From your parents
Like features or habits
But something’s can only be understood by endurance
A Japanese concentration camp my mother survived
An experience like that does not easily dismiss from your mind
War brings out the best and the worst in people
Even though there was she did her best to conceal its toll
I am the eldest of three children
My father was an acclaimed surgeon
Though both my parents are no longer with us
Their spirits will continue to guide us
And if I were to leave before my portrait it complete
I will proudly say that it is distinct
Very few are able to make the ending for themselves
And despite what the world may tell
I have always done what I believed was right
And due to this
I have witnessed
The wondrous art of life…
