The White Knight
Deep in the bright one November night
Shackled by fears on the edge of sight
A brave rider came just to hold her tight
He shone in the darkness,
This daring White Knight.
But he possessed, too, cruel memories, dark blue
Held back, head high, the whole long day through
Never quite healed but stitched up quite tight
Alone in the darkness,
This solemn White Knight.
She reached and she tried ev’ry trick she knew of
Though the fact in her heart –
He wasn’t right for true love
Perfect for moments, followed by flight
Aloof in the darkness,
This too-proud White Knight.
And so deep in the bright one November night
Shackled by tears on the edge of her sight
Never quite healed, but stitched up quite tight –
Screaming silent for him,
Her long-gone White Knight.
