Untitled Him
So here's where I sit,
fifteen or so feet from the door.
In a classroom so bright,
with pinatas and white floor.
It's been seventeen hours,
or at least that's what I'd say,
Since the doorbell first rang,
and from then made my whole day.
Two others are laughing,
so he proceed to go join in,
While Mom and I wonder,
"Is it just something weird about men?
I just laugh and go work,
'cause this thing's due before long.
That so-nearby laughter,
well, to me it's like a song.
Bedroom to kitchen,
retracing my steps several times.
Plug in the glue-gun,
get ready to burn these fingers of mine.
Footsteps come over,
brightly curious and intrigued eyes.
Unexpectedly interested,
make me a bit uncannily shy.
In light through my blinds,
I unfold the circles and yarn.
Those bright eyes go wide,
an expression fit to melt my heart.
I try to explain,
but his presence makes it tough.
Of that endearing smile,
I simply cannot get enough.
I have to admit,
it's been over a year for me,
Since my stomach flipped,
since I've wanted something so dearly.
Butterflies are back,
and all I can do is just smile.
I look so far forward,
and hope this thing lasts a long while.
