From Heaven
I can't see you from heaven
Because tears are in my eyes.
I know that up here no one cries,
But that's just too hard to do
Without you.
They say there is no fear or pain,
A perfect dream to live above -
But did they ever truly love
The way that I
Do you?
I can't imagine anything that feels
More lonely than my mortal soul
That lives again, an empty hole
Because of this eternity
From you.
If death again could bring you here
I'd find another stormy day,
A terrifying hour to pass away
Just so my eyes could
See you.
But now there's no turning back
From prison on these golden lanes,
No paradise to be in chains,
And I can only think
About you.
There is a song without an end
Of life, no need to weep or war,
No suffering, no weak, no poor -
Yet I would give it all
For you.
I still remember every moment,
Live each over in my mind,
As if I never left behind
The beating of my heart -
Only you.
And I am waiting by a stream of glass
To hear your footsteps in the street.
Some day again our paths will
meet;
Forever is not long to
Love you.
