Cloak of Night

December 3, 2012
By Anonymous

She took her cloth of midnight
And sewed it with moonbeams
Embroidered stars and comets
And let them glisten and gleam

She soaked it in a tub of silence
Darkness, shadows, and shades
She drowned it out in cricket songs
And held up what she made;

A cloak of black to cover the world
And keep her warm and tight,
Alone and lost, safe by dark
Stranded in a field of night
