Fighting the Past

I am the death,
I am the pain,
I am the hurt,
I am the slain.
I could be fragile,
I could be weak,
I could be sad,
I could be bleak.
But I fight back,
And I stay strong,
And I'll be brave,
And write this song.
The wounds have healed,
And scars remain:
Scars white and pure
That hide the pain.
All the memories
And abuse
Lead to the fight,
And I won't lose.
