The nights fall silent
As the birds cease to call
The air grows colder
And the leaves start to fall

The breeze lays docile
The air silent and still
The world lies quiet
Without even a bird trill

Our breathing syncs
Quiet sighs in the night
Our eyes are locked
Each other’s only sight

If we could lie here
Could the night stay
The silence could hold us
Until October, or May

For now we remain
Dreaming of a new start
Warm whispers and breaths
Until we must part
