Too Late
Nobody will know until it’s too late
Until I’m on the floor
My breath depleting
My soul gone forever
No one can know
I’ll feel the touch of fingertips
Voices screaming
They will go unnoticed. Unheard.
I’m already gone
The sun will cast rays
Moonlight will fill the nights
Hearts will keep beating
Only one thing changes
It was too late.
Suddenly the earth starts to shift
People start to notice the fine print
Tiny words inscribed at the bottom
Starred with an asterisk
Realization will occur
They’ll think “maybe if I’d done this..”
Their mind will become an infinite sea
Wondering why and how
It will be ok.
Conclusions become voices in everyone’s head
Wonder will become a forever unanswered question
I want them to hear one thing…
They were too late.
