Protect Thy Innocence
How can you
Curse the living
Who have bestowed on you the gift of innocence,
The cure of a morsel of hell.
Can you step on your puppy,
Kill a-traveling guppies,
To Kill a Mockingbird
Allusion,
A misunderstanding can cause us to break
One of the most important virtues
To take for everyone’s sake.
How can a mother, a father,
Strike their own
In their home?
How can you hit wide eyes,
Staring back at you with swirling stars,
An illusion,
In their own reality
So they do not have to face the one you created.
You say you “hated,”
Those baby pearly teeth
The tooth fairy money
Stole away from what you could eat,
So you lied and you cheated,
You tortured in a barbaric nature,
Going against nature.
Harming your own offspring,
How could you,
How can you?-
And yet you deny,
A subtle, fake, sad sigh...
As your toddler lay still in the sky.
