A crying black mother painted in her son's blood,

His white t-shirt that was no longer white

painted with bullet holes and red stains

He was only 15 years old

But bullets didn’t know he was just walking back from the store

Bullets didn’t know all he was getting was skittles and iced tea

And all she could do was cry and cry as she watches her lifeless son

Lying on the ground with no one coming for help.

A brother saying “this can’t be real”

Wishing his little brother would get up

“Get up, Get up you can’t leave this soon”

In anger and pain feeling heartbroken,

Left a brother with a gun in outrage

But not guilty was the verdict.

Tears come down like rain

But no one can wash away the blood stain

The night they took his brother

The night they took her son

The night they took that friend

Left nothing but pain

And lose of respect for those who carry a badge

To survive another day is a lifestyle

We don’t live anymore, not when we have to keep our eyes open

Fight or flight sensitive at night

Freeze and fright when we see those flashing blue and red lights behind us.

Guns blaze in rage and anger

Leaving another dead

As bullets pierce a

Body without amour,

leaving everyone asking “why?”

As no one understands the pain of a mother

As she tries to hold back the tears to show courage

As those who are so called serve and protect

Caused the damage.
