I was lost out in the chaos of today
With my head down, unsure what to say
I felt the judgement eating down on me
I had no choice in who I would turn out to be
Then, like a spotlight on the night
You came, and showed me to fight
Even though you didn't know as much
Before I felt like my true self was just a crutch
But with your words...you don't understand what you do to me
You help me open my eyes to gaze at the light, you've helped me finally see
You've taught me to become who I am on the inside, where before I felt like no one
And at least now, I know that I have you, and I don't really care what they think of me, or if they mock, imitate, or shun
So, maybe, you can realize now what you've done and how you've helped me along
Before...I guess I felt like a mistake, like I was just plain wrong
But that was everyone else speaking for me
And now, because of you, I've been set free
