My Brother, My Best Friend
My brother and I,
we don’t look alike.
His hair is curly,
and mine is straight as can be.
His eyes are hazel,
with flecks of vibrant green.
Mine are brown.
While his complexion is tan,
I’ve always been pale.
But, we’re both shy with new people,
loud with those we love.
We don’t like change;
it scares us.
We enjoy the small things in life;
starry nights,
cold weather,
and swingsets.
Our relationship is reliable and constant
like the sun rising in the morning,
or the stars shining at night.
I can always count on him.
I like his sense of humor,
his kind heart,
and his willingness to stand up for others.
I don’t like how he puts himself down,
and never thinks he’s good enough.
Me and him,
we’re not just brother and sister,
we’re best friends.
and that will never change.
