Lost in the ocean

Of my tears

Trying to swim

Devoid

Of any air

You see, life

Is a bubble

That floats

In the night

One day

It pops

Like it never

Caught sight

Notes

Scribbled on paper

That soon

Were erased

A leaf

Drifting away

That never

Was chased

Forgotten

In my vast

Voluminous soul

Now home

To the ocean

That swallowed

Me whole

The author's comments:

As a 7th grader I began suffering from anxiety.  The episodes that plagued me kept me home from school, often for weeks on end.  I was unable to express my feelings for over a year, leaving my parents, teachers, and doctors at a loss as to what to do.  I eventually turned to poetry as a means of therapy and a way to put words to the emotions I was feeling.
