Different

I was the third that popped out

first in 1993 another in 1996

then at the turn of the century, me

Maybe that's why I'm so different.

maybe it made me shine a little brighter

But you could never see that

Cause when I was only two you left

They were yours and I was his

the years went by like the weekends

one you'd be there, the next you weren't

they told me I’d understand

one day I'd be able to see

and the day is coming

But 15 years blind can hurt you

You don't have to see the baggies

you don't have to see the bottles

you don't have to see the truth

being blind only lets you feel

you feel the "love"

and the money

and the possessions

and everything is physical

but then year 16 hit

and you open your eyes for the first time

Sisters a mess, no money and no diapers

Gas station food for the homesick

Because for you there was never a better way

for you there was never comfort

never peace never love

with you there was never sun

never happiness never a home

my 16th year showed it all.

Now no one should fear their mother

but no mother should blackmail a child

Mistakes are to be learned from

never to be punished with

I wanted to love you

I wanted to depend on you

but how do you love

someone you can't even talk to?

someone who left you?

I was the third to pop out

and because of this I shine a little brighter

I see it all a little more

I hear a little more

I am a little more

So maybe I don't love you

but I will thank you

for making me a little bit more.
