She Can Do So Much
January 30, 2019
lilac gently guides the remainder of the day
to down below the rocky hills
and the moon makes her appearance
a big ball of light
whose warmth cuts through cold air
she hangs above her children,
knowing they’re in need of her protection
and they know it too.
the children reach for her—
their limbs extended, they search for the comfort of her touch
roots crawl from under rocks
they try to jump to her
nobody keeps them safe
she’s too far to do it herself
how could she leave her children so helpless?
