Where I’m from my siblings and I were blessed to never have uber uncertainty

about the meal we would consume that day.

Instead, my parents taught us about generosity,

giving away our delicious leftovers from a dinner out

to homeless people who needed it.

Part of my life today.

Where I’m from, we didn’t have to worry

because we had sufficient clothes to keep us warm against the frigid winters.

Instead, my parents taught us generosity,

distributing our grown out clothes

to families that needed them and couldn’t afford the important necessities.

Part of my life today.

Where I’m from we never felt concern

where we would sleep, if we would feel relief in all of Wisconsin’s seasons.

Instead, my parents taught us generosity,

supporting families financially through buying groceries at the beginning of each week,

when they could not buy food themselves.

Part of my life today.

Where I’m from we were never distraught with doubt

if our parents would provide, in any aspect of our life.

Instead, my parents taught us generosity,

taking us on mission trips to Haiti, Dominican Republic and several states

letting us experience the need we had never experienced ourselves.

Part of my life today.
