Armour of Lies
Covered in armor, let no one
near,
for the blade of the sword
might
pierce the flesh of fear.
Hiding behind a shield,
no one sees you.
Isn't that better?
no one to hurt you.
Or... love you.
But you push that thought away,
bury it beneath
brave words, strong words, hero words,
all fake, not true, a show for the world
but inside
you know, it's not
you.
You don't go off script, you
can't improvise,
so instead you do what
you know.
You stick to the
lies.

I found the idea in this poem because I often see people hiding in the shadows, and not revealing their full selves, afraid of what they might become in their process of being true to themselves. Those feelings and thoughts drew themselves together for this poem, and the rhyme seemed to come naturally and flow from the words.
