Where I'm From
I am from the outdoors,
where the wilderness runs wild,
and the unexpected is expected.
I am from swaying oaks,
the wind whistling through the woods,
darkness closing in.
I am from my warm, camo pants,
the cold settling through the valley,
surrounded by wilderness.
I am in my boots,
toes frigid like the air,
socks were frozen like the terrain.
I am hunting the rolling hills of southwestern Wisconsin,
looking, for that one of a kind whitetail deer to walk by my stand
I’m one that doesn’t give up.
I am from the outdoors,
where learning your surroundings is essential,
and doing things the ordinary wouldn’t is crucial.
