Mulan died on HeLan Mountain
Mulan died on HeLan Mountain
In the palace
On the bed
Made of gold and jade
With a knife in her heart
All the civilians and military officers kneeled in front
Cried loudly for their queen
Old Emperor stood in front
Kept eyes at his young died concubine
People throughout the whole country kneeled on the street
Cried loudly for their queen
The queen
The concubine of the emperor
The young woman called Mulan
But
Who still remembered
The female general
Killed enemies on the battlefield
That autumn, wind blew
Huns rode horses
Cross the HeLan Mountain
Land lost, people died, cattle stolen, gold lotted
The old emperor still closed his eyes
Played with his concubines everyday
The music went out of the palace
Mixed wit the crying of the newborn baby
Next to the baby, was his dead mother
Huns kept on their journey
Moreland lost, more people died, more cattle stolen, more gold lotted
Crying of babies went into the ears of the old emperor
This time, the baby was the prince, the son of the emperor
Huns gathered under the wall of the palace
They yelled, horses yelled
Old emperor was already frightened the courage
He spoke to the civilians in a commanding tone
Asked them to publish the conscription documents
Next morning, a bride was sent to the Huns
The daughter of the emperor married the Hun
Governors went everywhere in the country
All the adult males need to go into the army
Post flew into Mulan’s home
Landed on Mulan’s sword
Mulan picked up the post
Looked at it without sound
She hid the post in her room, quickly closed the door
Father was too old, brother was too young
Mother was sick, who else could go
Mulan went back to room
Cut her hair and comb it up
Took off the dress and changed into military uniform of the male
Waved her hands
Goodbye to the family
Got on the horse
Toward the military camp
Mulan went to the military camp
For the country
She didn’t know
In the meeting room of her home
Matchmakers gathered around
They introduced the matches who all wanted to marry Mulan
Mulan’s mother and father sat in the middle
Selecting the best one for their daughter
To bring honor to the family
Passed the test
Mulan became a solider
For the country, for the city, for the family, for everyone
She sat under the tree
Looked at the sky
Spoke to herself in mind
It’s my duty to fight
After three months
The leader of the Huns killed his wife
The daughter of the emperor died
Under her husband’s knife
The old emperor didn’t take action
He still had one son, then why care about the daughter
Even though she died
Music still playing
Dances still going
Music flew to the camp
Flew into the ears of soldiers
Mulan heard it
She was practicing
The sword was flying in the sky
Everyone in the country knew the death of the princess
Mulan also knew it
The sword in her left hand moved
The grass nearby instantly turned into grass powder
She wished she could go to fight
But without the mention of the emperor
Who has the courage to go
Who wants to take the risk, using the life of the whole family
Every night, Mulan holds her sword in her hand when sleeping
Outside the camp, drum kept going on
Mulan imagine
She was already in the war
Fight
Her duty
For the country, for peace
Emperor finally made the decision
Not for the country
Not for the people
Just because his other son died
Killed by the Huns
The music in the palace finally stopped
But who knows, when will it re-start
Mulan was sent to the front side
Another side, Huns lined up, with scimitars, in their hands
Knives, swords, arrows, hit each other
Mulan stood at the top of the great wall
waved the long sword
The heads of Huns roll off the mountain
Mulan sat on the back of the red color horse
With longbow in the left hand
Three arrows in the right hand
With eagle feather at the back
Golden decoration at the front
Mulan pulled the bow
Put those three arrows on the bow
The Huns falling down, they died
Mulan and the other soldiers won
The Huns left, went back to another side of the mountain
They should get awarded and sent back home
But the emperor didn’t do anything
Soldiers went back home
The hunger caused the death
They were the only left one in the family right now
Mulan went back home
In front of the house
There were people waiting for her
Not parents, not brother,
But the people from the palace
They said
They worked for the emperor
Already knew about Mulan
And knew she is a girl
Now the emperor wanted to meet with Mulan
If not come, everyone in the family will lose their life
They opened a huge cage
Inside, there were Mulan’s parents and brother
Mulan looked at the cage, didn’t say anything
Turned around and jumped on her horse
Toward the direction of the palace
In the palace, Mulan met the emperor
The emperor awarded Mulan as the general of the country
Awarded her family, gave them house and moved them to the capital
Mulan’s family felt really proud
They told everyone that Mulan is from this family
And all the people in the country remembered Mulan
That female general who protected them and fought the Huns
But then,
What about Mulan?
Oh, she was forced to marry the emperor, became his concubine
She was locked in the palace, forever
Mulan looked through the window
Birds were singing
Birds were flying
This is freedom
This is the actual meaning of life
Her memory flew back to the battlefield
She used her sword to kill the enemies
Used her effort and believe to save the country
But why,
Things became this
Mulan closed her eyes
Tears went out, like the river
She opened the drawer
Inside, it’s a knife
The trophy from the war
Jade at the bottom, golden at the top
She looked at that knife
Smiled
Then insert the knife into her heart
Blood flew all around the room
Mixed with the smoke
Like the battlefield
Mulan died
Mulan died on HeLan Mountain
It’s her duty to fight
And she did it
The emperor let people constructed the grave for Mulan
The grave is on HeLan Mountain
He also let people constructed a tombstone for Mulan
On that, it wrote
My concubine, Mulan
And that’s it
Sine that, that female general was being forgotten
In a long time of history
Her story being forget
People washed the history
She fell in love in military camp
And married her friend
The other solider all knew she’s female
But, what a joke is this?
How she still alive after the others finding out she’s female
There’s a law
There’s a rule
Only male can become solider
Fall in love?
Marry freedom?
Wake up, people!
Wake up!
Why do you think Mulan gets the chance to do that?
She’s a girl
She’s a daughter
The daughter of the family
Supposed to marry well
Bring honor to the family
What is love?
There’s no love?
What’s freedom
There’s no freedom
Mulan
Born for the family
For the honor of the family
Only the family
There’s nothing else
Fight is not her duty
Her duty is
And only is
Be a good wife
Everyone forgets the truth
Everyone forgets the history
They made happy endings
But do they really forget?
There’s no happy ending in the history
They hide the truth
They make the history light and beautiful
Since then
Who will remember the truth?
Who still remembers what Mulan felt?
The days and nights
Full with
The belief of protecting the country
The duty of fight
But the mountain remember
The mountain didn’t forget
It remembered all the enemies killed by Mulan
All the golden arrows with the blood of the enemies
It remembered the greatest female general
Who fights for the country
Who fights for the people
Who fights for the peace
It remembered Mulan forever
The general
Sitting on the red horse
Using her hand to pull the bow
Ready for the fight
It’s her duty to fight
