Memoir of a Shadow
We were shadows
dancing on the wall
behind the sunlight,
growing with each flick
of the wrist or graceful
pirouette across smooth
white plaster
not knowing when it ends,
we run and watch the people
go by.
They don’t know we see,
hear,
know. To them we are
reflections in the summer sun,
we are living mirrors and
faceless strangers.
We are shadows on the wall
until the sun sets
and we walk off into the moonlight
falling.
