Verboten
My name
Twists around your lips
Like a cobra
Around a neck.
We both wonder
The same things
But speak in circles
Racing around the
Bush on fire.
Never saying
What we each know.
I laugh at your joke,
You turn your head,
To look me in the eyes.
Do they deceive me?
Betraying emotion.
It’s too dangerous
To say
“I love you.”
