Senior Year
Senior year,
the year of lasts.
The last football game,
marching band performance,
and speech contest.
Sad to close one book,
nerves and excitement about opening another and starting a new adventure.
“Normal” as I know it will soon be over.
Days filled writing scholarship essays and filling out forms.
Stressing about college expenses and making new friends.
So much to do and so little time.
Enjoying the final months of senior year.
Spending time with friends,
living life to the fullest,
and growing anticipation about graduation.
Cold, winter days warm into the beginning of summer and graduation.
Cap and gown hanging in a closet,
waiting for the big day.
Finally.
The last day of school.
Graduation.
Parties.
Laughter.
Goodbyes.
Tears.
So many changes come all at once, leading up to one important part of my life
beginning a new chapter.
