Spider Allowables
I asked her for a simple favor, to kill a spider that had been sitting on my wall
She reaches over to glass and paper and puts the spider under gently
I don’t understand why and shall I never want to as spiders are disgusting
They crawl around and create gross looking webs around my room
They’re icky
Gross
Terrifying
And don’t deserve anything
I wish she could’ve killed the spider instead of saving it
Wish she would’ve torn it limb by limb
Pieces to pieces
Maybe even burning it would’ve been better
But she saved it
She saved the disgusting horrid spider
And I will forever be reminded of that spider that might still be out there

This was for a school assignment to remake something like allowable by Nikki Giovanni but about what some allowable there are or not. The poem is about spiders so I started thinking about how people don´t like spiders in general and think they´re satan of some sort. I´ve met mainly children who act like this so I tried to make it through the eyes of a very very hateful child who hated spiders.
