Green
Do you remember
When I fell into your arms?
It was just you
Just you and me.
The sky flashed violet and blue
I saw the colors in your emerald eyes.
You smelled of fresh grass and velvet...
You made every dagger in my spine bend into a flower.
You took every tear of mine and made sunshine out of it.
I didn’t see your tears.
They were hidden within rays of my sunshine.
I like to think
All we needed was time.
I would like to think
Time could heal any wound.
And do you remember,
When we chased the stars?
When those lights shone purple,
And your golden tears ran down my shoulder,
I gazed up.
I saw the stars.
You saw them too,
A grin climbed up your lips.
We stumbled into a rusty auburn jeep,
Never letting go of my hand.
The wind was in my hair and my soul.
The moonlight made you glow.
You glowed like love.
Like stolen kisses
And intertwined fingers.
The stars cast a spell on my eyes,
scattered moondust in the sky.
But my eyes traveled back to you.
You with the freckled nose of stars,
And with the cosmic eyes.
We were moondancers.
Sometimes,
I think I'll see you.
Standing on the sidewalk.
Your red converse,
And your cuffed blue jeans,
With the flowers I scribbled on the fabric.
Where did the time go?
Even as time riddles us,
And laughs in our faces.
We know it envies us.
Anyone could envy,
The love of Romeo and Juliet.
And when I breathed in your shoulder
When you boarded the train,
That would take you to the stars,
I knew you’d never return.
I knew those green eyes would never come back
And shine in mine.
Green.
That’s you.
You’re green.
You are spring.
The season everyone looks to,
With the flowers,
And the grinning children.
And the rain.
Rain clouds galore,
But the rain is sweet and silky.
It makes you want to dance.
So you throw off your shoes,
Toss aside the yellow raincoat,
And dip your feet,
Into the stage of the rain.
And on this April night,
I saw Green.
Green laughed a laugh of angels,
And when he walked to me,
Flowers bloomed in his steps.
Green took my hand,
And guided me across the stage.
The grip of his hand comforted me,
As he brushed hair from my eyes,
He whispered,
“I’d never leave you, Juliet.”
But I knew you were gone.
But I swayed my hips,
And your hand guided me.
In this rain,
The rain storm of the heart.
Green.
As you faded, Green,
I knew you’d be gone.
Your hand left mine,
And the boy made of stars,
Went back to where he belonged.
In the stars.
Now,
I look up every night.
And see
The shimmering diamond dust
Of the sky.
And I feel you near.
But I always ask myself,
Again and again.
Where did all the time go?

this piece is about love. about two people who had unconditional love. but love like this never lasts. these fantasy dreams can be crushed, and 'green' will leave you. but you'll always have little pieces of green around you. that's what this poem is about. a girl and her 'green'.
