The  never-ending shade

When will it end?

We carry the history, it’s delinquency

As we’ve  learned that quiet isn't always peace.

Bruised and weathered

We’ve come to witness a nation that isn’t broken but simply unfinished

Aiming to ask ourselves, what exactly do we need to do?

We are striving to forge a union with purpose

Running around like a mouse trapped in a maze

We lift our gazes

 Close the divide

Remind ourselves that yes we have bruised

Yet as we grieved, we grew.

Victory won’t lie in the blade.

But in all the bridges we’ve made.

All the history, all the grievances

This is the era of just redemption

such a terrifying hour

yet within it we found the power

As a country we asked

As a country we questioned

As a country that is bruised but whole, benevolent but bold, fierce and free

We will not be turned around or interrupted by intimidation because we know our inaction

And inertia will be the inheritance of the next generation.

As a country we grew from our query

We will raise this wounded world into a grand one

This is the era of redemption, we answered

My poem expresses how we ask ourselves when we will strive from all that we’ve done in the past and how we answer to our actions. We accept the truth of how our society is. Being unfinished and raising ourselves from our wounds together. We climb together, we heal together, we unite together. Coming in partnership over the bridges we have set. I want the audience to see we as one are aiming for salvation. That a day comes the new generation asks us how our society has come to be prosperous and we are able to answer. Unity, with unity we learned to close the divide, to put our future first, to put our differences aside.
