Curly hair
Today I curled my hair
Taking time for each strand
To make it look perfect and wavy
The purpose that I curled my hair is
To get the satisfaction that I take care of myself
Behind the curly dark hair and blush and lipstick
I cannot bare to show the real me
The frizzy hair and all the acne
Would I still be considered pretty?
Without hiding the real me and putting on a show?
Without faking a smile through my round lips?
In today's society we are almost forced to wear makeup
To feel pretty and if you wear too much
Stop doing it
If you wear none
Put some on
We don't understand the demanding words that we need to be a certain way
So today I curled my hair
For the soul purpose of knowing I take care of myself
Not worrying what people think
But knowing I feel comfortable in my own skin

This piece has a deeper meaning behind it. I feel that every girl hides their real self behind perfect hair and spotless skin because they are afraid of getting people's real reaction of them and they don't want it to be bad. In my poem I dicuss how girls don't like how they look so they cover up. I tried to give the message that it is okay to have frizzy hair or acne or anything imperfect because that is what makes up perfect as human, having those imperfections.
