Dear ex-lover
As I sit here and think I wonder how different our lives would be
Without the fights or the ending the calls in aggression
What if we did get that house in the small town
Or have those set of twins
I look back at those memories and sigh
Those late night calls were full of laughter
But the days were full of somber
You said you'd never leave
But I’m watching you walk out the door
I try to remember you as my guide,my wings to lift me up but you were my anchor and making me stay down when you were low too
Thank you for the memories and the smiles but curse you for not waiting for me
I ask myself “is this my fault for wanting time” “was the time up for me”
Maybe you had enough
Maybe I was too much
I wish you well and I hope you live the life you want
But how can you go on living when I was your world too
Don't you think of us?
Or am I just a memory in your past
