Prayers for the lost
(Found in the journal of Jeffrey)
Inside the slums of my Quezon City;
You will find me here with my family;
Roaming around, weak and teary;
Trying to rescue myself out of poverty.
At daybreak, my companions and I will scavenge.
We hope to find scraps in our local fast-food chains.
To find food for our family is today's challenge;
The pain inside my stomach remains.
Getting strange looks from the people above;
Who is wearing suits and rides black cars.
Looking at me strangly, like I deal drugs.
We returned empty-handed, hoping, reaching for the stars.
The police raided their humble home.
On that night, they were all sinners.
Due to false drug involvement, they died.
They were killed at the time of dinner.
