Grandma's gone
We all knew that this day was coming
But not when it was going to come
I got the call from my mom
I needed to get to my aunts
Grandma isn’t going to make it
I was going 90
I was scared
I had goosebumps
I didn’t know what I was walking into
I was scared that by the time I got there
She would be gone
She held on for as long as she could
I sat in her room
Held her hand
Told her it was okay if God took her
We had gospel music playing
That was her favorite music
Time went on that night
She held on
She wouldn’t let go
She was rebellious
She was a fighter
She was my grandma
I kept telling her it was okay
She could go when God wanted her
It eventually got late
I had to go
I didn’t want to
I was scared
I made it home
I got the call from my mom
I could tell in her voice that she passed
My step-dad got on the phone
She’s gone
It was silent
I hung up
She waited for me to make it home safe
She finally went to the gates
She met God
