Scared MAG
You scared me once,
and I ran from you.
Beating a groove into the ground.
Fueled by fear, and hate, and the taste
of your sickly sweet kiss.
But a wandering darkness came and overtook me,
and when I ran I was lost.
Ghost-like spiderwebs of memory
clutch at my heart,
trying to tickle and spark it to flame
but I won’t let it.
I keep running in the dark until it begins to be light.
Sunlight balled up into drops and
raining.
My hair is dripping with sunshine,
clinging to my neck and face,
hiding the furiously indignant tears
as they rush down my face,
as they rush from my aged eyes.
Tears that hit the pavement and grow black roses block my path,
Scratching at my legs,
Leaving small threads of wet cold,
Small, smoldering tunnels that lead to the crypts of the heart.
Each one because of you.
You scared me once.
I never let you do it again.
