Tortilla Town
Birds chirp feverishly
when suckers play the garbage cans
in the cool of the morning
the color of Popsicles,
and blind men sell dental floss door-to-door,
and pedal-pushers push their way
out of the resale shop windows,
and poets try to find a path.
I got a million things to say,
My soul is a half-baked tortilla,
Sure wish you were a friend of mine—
street-corner stranger,
sure wish you’d help me.
