One clear star that sails away embarks, a year in rest

                    Beneath my mind’s bark,

Grounding me and fluttering in its absence in the time of pleasure.

A time of gossamer fancies with sunrise capturing our lips.

Alongside the breeze, no care of what we say.

Our arrival upon rise of day,

Your hands are chained to mine in leaves, lest would you leave the clouds.

Binding us to earth, the gardens we once roamed, an immortal year never to depart from my soul.

Upon vines and clouds, eyes extend past the oak tree,

Glistening by the lake in search of thee.

I say I shall not hear the clamor of the cage,

never to break a dream of our year in rest.

My poem, A Year in Rest, explores the passing of a year, yet in some ways keeping one year the ultimate year that stores everything.
