Blind
It’s raining, I can hear the pitter-patter,
I can inhale the petrichor,
Yet I can’t see the raindrops.
It’s fun, everyone is laughing and being happy,
I can hear the jokes and stories,
Yet I can’t see the humour.
It’s dark, everyone is scared and fumbling with torches,
I can hear frightened shrieks,
Yet I can’t see why there may be “no light ahead”.
It’s quiet, someone is trying to break the silence,
I can hear their comments and questions,
Yet I can’t see why they’re failing.
It’s sad, everyone is complaining and mourning,
I can hear their lamentations,
Yet I can’t see how it changes the world.
It’s sanguine, everyone is cheerful and enthusiastic,
I can feel the positive vibes,
Yet I can’t see why they dwell on momentary pleasures.
It’s noisy, everyone is bustling and running,
I can hear shouts and feel the pressure,
Yet I can’t see what the rush’s all about!
It’s night, everyone is asleep,
I can feel that all life has ceased,
Yet I can’t see why we live, we laugh, we breathe.
All I can see is a big, red button shining bright,
Warning that nothing is right.
We are too fast, too shallow, too mean,
Though results of such a life we have already seen.
Perhaps everyone will soon see everything,
And by then anyone won’t be able to do anything.
