Juvenile Romance MAG
All too often have I seen young lovers
Enveloped in their sweet, sticky sessions
Oh, now they speak dear words.
Next week’s a different story,
Petty arguments soon sever their love
And is no longer a part of their inventory.
Yes, Tomlin had it right.
I have no time for such nonsense.
With the whole wide world left to explore,
Why would I succumb to such lame pretense?
No, let me see the pyramids
And the Parthenon.
I want to fly free and fast as an eagle,
Not wallow in some love-drawn caisson.
Let me read Shakespeare,
Not a thoughtless love note.
Let me laugh first, and dream first, and live first
Before sweet, sticky words slip from my throat.
