Serendipity, The occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way. Simplicity, well, it is simple and not so out there. Both of these things are never just thrown directly into your face. Serendipity and simplicity are the most relaxing things in life. It is the moment that you hold a baby for the first time. What about the time that you first heard I love you from someone that was not your parents? And the first time that they kissed you right after they had said those 3 little words on the couch in his basement? Serendipity is like the smell of your favorite flower as it awaits to be picked up by you. It is the rain tapping on your window late at night, pouncing and waiting for you to fall asleep. It is the banging of your dad’s footsteps as he walks to get his morning coffee before he takes on the day's challenges. It is the first time you watched your little sister do her makeup after you got to move in, watching as she brushes the blush softly onto her already warm cheeks. And the younger sister was weary of you, not allowing herself to feel your love for her, until now. It is the fluffy softness of the llama your dad gave you because he knows you like texture and it helps you sleep better at night. It is the tangy sensation in your mouth after you eat something sweet. It is the oak trees waving as you bike past them without your training wheels for the first time. It is serendipity.  A happy occurrence. It is something that gives you the warmth of a furnace. It is the last day at the school you have been at since 1st grade, nonsensical, and honestly quite painful. But bitter sweet nonetheless, with a smack of harshness. Serendipity, the moments that may not be important in the moment, Serendipity. It is a longing silence staring at you directly, sharply in the face, while everyone else sleeps. It is the cookies at Christmas, cookie cutters scattered all around your grandma's table. It is the moment you left your mothers house for the last time. On to your new beginning and you felt at peace and happy, Serendipity. It is the first day I never knew what to write about because I was not mad anymore, Serendipity. It was the first day I woke up to silence and my dad telling me there was coffee waiting if I had wanted some, Serendipity. It is the stench that rain leaves to linger in the morning, Serendipity. It was him and it was her and it was every single thing in between both. It is the way the trees move, calmly, or violently crashing from the lightning that has threatened them. It is the way he holds my hand and rests his head on my shoulder, the way he whispers he loves me, Serendipity. It is the time we took rolling chairs and rolled across the driveway, straight into the neighbors yard. When we looked like a happy and normal family. It was driving fast past cars while the sun cast.  The day I first met him, after 14 years at the little coffee shop on the corner and I was angry, Serendipity. It was all the wondering, wanting, waiting.  It was the time I had forgiven him for something he did not do, Serendipity. It is the way he holds my head when he hugs me, almost like a silent “I have your back but I will protect you and support you no matter what as well.” ...A silent “I love you”, after all that is what hugs are. It was the day I met my mom, and she played with my hair as she willingly watched my favorite show. I was 14, full of Serendipity. It is the way she calls me beautiful and tells me that she loves me each and every day and never forgets to. And treats me as her own, because I am. It is the way she took my senior pictures and captured my goofy side and said “That is you” , that is who I am, Serendipity. It is the way that this family is my Serendipity, my peace, my happy occurrence. Serendipity, The occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.

This piece was made to inspire those to think about the small things in life as I beleive those are the things we take for granted iin order to only look at the bigger things.
